Adam Schecter, Managing Partner

Adam has more than 17 years of investment and transactional experience. Prior to founding WHICP, Adam was a partner with New World Ventures and a senior team member of The Pritzker Group, a private equity firm that makes minority investments in early stage information technology companies and controlling investments in middle market manufacturing and industrial companies. Before joining The Pritzker Group and New World Ventures, Adam was an executive with Baxter Healthcare Corporation where he oversaw M&A activity and venture related investments. He also established and supervised Baxter’s strategic joint ventures.

Previously, Adam was a senior corporate attorney with Katten Muchin & Zavis in Chicago where his practice focused on leveraged buyout transactions, securities matters and general corporate representation for middle market companies. Before that, Adam was a Senior Accountant with Arthur Andersen & Co. in Washington D.C. where he led in-depth financial due diligence and accounting systems reviews for M&A transactions. Over the course of Adam’s career, he has been involved with over a hundred transactions and businesses in his capacity as investor, manager and advisor. Adam has a BS with honors in Accounting and Finance from the University of Virginia’s McIntire School of Commerce and a JD, magna cum laude, from the University of Illinois College of Law. Adam is also a Certified Public Accountant.

Adam lives in Deerfield, Illinois with his wife Suzy and three sons, Jay, Sam, and Nate.


Eric Cohen, Managing Partner

Eric is a Managing Partner of WHI Capital Partners and brings more than 14 years of operational, managerial and M&A transactional experience. Prior to joining WHICP, Eric oversaw all operations and acquisition initiatives as General Manager of Midwest Air Technologies, Inc., a consumer and industrial products company. Under Eric’s leadership, sales grew from $100 million to over $200 million and the company captured the leading market share position in its industry niche.

Before Midwest, Eric was CEO and majority owner of Ampere Automotive, Inc., a middle market family-owned automotive component remanufacturer. At Ampere, Eric grew sales from $25 Million to $50 Million and doubled profitability by successfully completing two acquisitions and implementing the Toyota Production System. With this system, production lead times at Ampere dropped from 3.5 days to 4 hours and inventory turns tripled.

Previously, Eric was a manager at General Electric, holding various operational and business development positions with GE Medical Systems, GE Power Systems, and GE Corporate. Throughout Eric’s career, he has been consistently successful in developing and executing strategic plans, growing revenues, dramatically improving margins and integrating acquisitions. Eric has a BS with honors in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin and an MBA from Harvard Business School.

Eric and his wife Stacey reside in Winnetka, Illinois along with their four children, Cameron, Charlie, Claire and Caitlin.


Michael Schopin, CFA, Vice President

Mike is a Vice President at WHI Capital Partners. Prior to joining WHI Capital Partners, Michael was a senior analyst at Laurus Funds, a private investment group specializing in convertible collateralize direct investments in public companies. During his time at Laurus, Mike successfully completed deals that enabled the fund to quadruple in size.

Before joining Laurus funds, Mike was an analyst at Prudential Real Estate Securities Investors where he was responsible for the Office and Industrial REITs in the portfolio. Mike began his career as an analyst at Jennision Associates where he analyzed investments for the North American Small Cap Equities Fund. Mike earned BS in Business Administration with honors from Washington University in St. Louis and a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business.

Mike, an avid NY Giants and Mets fan, resides in Chicago, Illinois with his wife, Melissa.


Andy Baker, Vice President

Andy is a Vice President at WHI Capital Partners. He has more than 10 years experience advising, financing and investing in companies in the U.S. and Europe. Andy has played an active role in the acquisition of a number of WHI Capital Partners’ companies including Emerald Waste Services and Victory Industrial Products.

Prior to joining WHI Capital Partners in 2005, Andy was a Vice President at Lehman Brothers in the Debt Capital Markets group in London, focusing on acquisition and corporate debt financing. During his eight-year tenure with Lehman Brothers in New York and London, Andy worked in a number of roles within Lehman’s Investment Banking division and executed more than $10 billion in financing for clients globally. Andy earned a Bachelors of Science degree in economics from the University of London.

Andy enjoys triathlons and English breakfasts and currently lives in Chicago with his wife Sabina and their son Jenson. 


Nathan Gordon, Analyst

Nathan is an Analyst at WHI Capital Partners. Prior to joining WHI Capital Partners in 2008, Nathan was an Analyst at Trinity Capital, a boutique investment banking firm based out of Los Angeles. While at Trinity Capital, he focused on mergers, acquisitions and recapitalizations within the middle-market.

Prior to joining Trinity Capital, Nathan was an Associate in the Energy and Real Estate practices of KPMG. During his tenure at KPMG, Nathan was responsible for maintaining client relationships and planning, executing and completing audit engagements for various public and privately held clients. Nathan earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from the University of Southern California and is a Certified Public Accountant in the State of California.

Nathan, an avid fan of USC football, resides in Chicago.
